Ocala (FL) Fire-Rescue Acquires Green Vehicles

In an effort to save fuel costs and be environmentally efficient, Ocala (FL) Fire Rescue has put into service two 2010 Toyota Prius Hybrid vehicles. The vehicles are rated at 51 miles per gallon. The hybrids feature a 1.8 liter dual overhead cam fuel injected engine and are capable of automatically switching from gasoline to battery power.

“We are excited to put these vehicles into service, and it sends the right message to the community during these economic times” states Fire Chief Dan Gentry. The vehicles have been assigned to administrative staff.
