An explosion and fire at the Elyria Foundry injured at least one person early Friday morning, according to a report from WEWS ABC 5 News in Cleveland.
The report indicates that an explosion occured after metal containing excess moisture was mixed with a batch of molten metal. This ignited an upper wall and a portion of the building’s roof, according to fire officials.
An employee sustained burn injuries and was transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital for treatment. Firefighters worked strategically for two hours to avoid any additional explosions.
