Ohio Firefighter Dies After Falling Ill at Fire Scene

A 71-year-old volunteer firefighter-EMT passed away last week after falling ill at a fire scene.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, Firefighter-EMT Tom Rhamey of the Western Holmes County Fire and EMS–Lakeville Station fell ill while working at the scene of a residential structure fire on November 18.

Rhamey was treated and transported by Western Holmes County EMS to Wooster Community Hospital and subsequently flown to Akron City Hospital where he remained in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit until his passing on November 28.

Rhamey had 55 years of service.
