One Dead in CA House Fire

Jurupa Valley (CA) – One person was killed in an early morning fire in Jurupa Valley Tuesday, firefighters said.

The Riverside County Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to a report of a residential fire around 1:40 a.m. in the 7600 block of Olive Court near Mission Boulevard. Firefighters were able to contain the fire around 2:10 a.m.

Neighbors used water hoses to fight the fire and prevent the flames from reaching their homes. 

The residence was a home that had been divided into three apartment units. The victim was found in the back unit, firefighters said.

Loomis (CA) – A house fire that started in a converted garage has killed one man and seriously injured a younger man, officials said early Monday.

The identities of the victims were not disclosed, who lived together and may have been father and son. The older man perished, said Loomis Fire Protection District Chief David Wheeler.

The fire, reported by neighbors, started at around 5 p.m. Sunday, generating thick smoke that rendered the two victims unconscious, Wheeler said.

Fire and law enforcement personnel from seven agencies responded, with 11 engines and 35 people responding within minutes, he said.
