One Dead in Early Morning Fire at Abandoned Baltimore Row Home; Arson Investigated

A deadly fire at an abandoned row home in West Baltimore is now being investigated as arson, according to WMAR.

The Baltimore City Fire Department responded to the firee on the 2400 block of West Franklin Street just before 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, which was fully brought under control by 9:15 a.m. Afterward, crews searched the home and discovered an unidentified adult victim who had died in the back of the property.

Police have not yet released the age or gender of the victim, and it remains unclear why someone was inside the vacant property. Authorities have notified the FBI and an arson team is investigating.
