One Dead in Early-Morning VA House Fire

According to a report from WTVR, one person has died and another was transported to a local hospital after an early-morning house fire early Friday morning in South Richmond, Virginia.

At around 4:40 a.m., the Richmond Fire & Emergency Services (RFES) was called to the 1300 block of Decatur Street, near Hull Street and Route 1. A woman who said she was the homeowners’ granddaughter said she was still trying to gather information about her grandparents.

The condition of the hospitalized person has yet to be released.

RFES said the was placed under control at around 5:17 a.m.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
