One Firefighter Hospitalized, Dozens Displaced in Massive VA Apartment Complex Fire

According to a report from WUSA, a garden apartment complex in Fairfax, Virginia, suffered a massive fire Monday morning, sending one firefighter to the hospital, displacing nearly 50 people, and causing more than $4 million in damages.

The Fairfax County Fire/Rescue (FCFR) Department responded to the complex in the 4200 block of Mozart Brigade Lane and knocked down the bulk of the flames just after 11:30 a.m. However, firefighters stayed to douse any existing hot spots and search for extension.

According to the FCFR, the fire reached a third alarm.

As of 12 p.m. Monday, one firefighter was transported to the hospital for a check-up and was expected to recover. 

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
