Buffalo (NY) – Around 100 residents were forced to evacuate their apartments after a high-rise fire broke out on the 6th floor of the Fairfax House in Allentown.

The Buffalo (NY) Fire Department responded to the Delaware Avenue apartment building a few minutes before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

It appears that the fire started in a closet inside of apartment 602. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading beyond the apartment.

Whitfield said around 102 residents had to be evacuated from the building.
