According to a report from KCAL, a 51-year-old male was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition as more than 100 Los Angeles (CA) Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a massive fire in a commercial building in the 1700 block of N. Main Street. in Lincoln Heights Wednesday night.
The LAFD was dispatched to the property at around 8:30 p.m., arriving to find large flames and smoke escaping from the roof. The building was suspected of being used as a movie studio, according to the LAFD.
Crews were working on the roof, attempting ventilation to release smoke and flames. Two more task forces were called in for assistance.
A statement from the LAFD said that crews penetrated the building from the address-side about halfway into the structure in zero-visibility conditions without locating the fire.
Access to the rear of the building was delayed by vehicles surrounding the structure. After LAFD firefighters entered through the back, they found flames and extinguished most of the fire which, according to the statement, was primarily on a mezzanine.
The LAFD said the fire had been contained at around 9:05 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
