OPENING A PLYWOOD ROOF SURFACE

OPENING A PLYWOOD ROOF SURFACE

The following method can be used to open a plywood roof surface:

  • Make a cut along the ridge pole as far as your reach permits.
  • Make a second cut parallel to the first one, approximately three or four feet down on the roof surface. Do not overextend yourself.
  • Make perpendicular cuts between the two original cuts. These
  • cuts must be made midway between the rafters.
  • Once you complete these vertical cuts, tilt the plywood strips in a louvered fashion. (The nails used to install plywood and the large area involved—four-foot by eight-foot sheets—make it difficult to “pull” the cut roof sections.)
