Operation EDITH in Braille

Operation EDITH in Braille

Instructions on Operation EDITH are now available in Braille to blind persons in the Greater Boston area.

Boston Fire Commissioner George H. Paul has long been concerned with the fact that no provisions had ever been made to furnish the blind in his area with written instructions relating to fire safety matters in the home. He asked for assistance from the Fire Safety Council, Inc., a nonprofit organization made of civic-minded business men and women which was formed some 20 years ago for the purpose of supporting the Boston Fire Department. The council agreed to provide the funding and these instructions were printed in Braille by the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Mass. The Perkins School has the largest Braille printing plant in the world.
