A man was pulled from a pond by firefighters in Orlando on Wednesday afternoon, reports clickorlando.com
The incident was unfolding at South Westmoreland Drive and West Gore Street.
The Orlando Fire Department said the man was swimming in a pond and got stuck in lily pads.
10-year-old Marion Meeks and his friends, Devonte Hall and Kevin Louis said they saw the man struggling in the lake as they were walking home and ran across the street to the Orlando Fire Department for help, officials said.
“I thought he was gonna die, my heart was pumping hard,” Marion said. “He was swimming good until he got to the lily pads. His neck got tangled and he started to sink.”
Firefighters said they pulled the man, who was unconscious, from the pond and started using life support measures.
“I came out, came across the street with the kids and saw the gentleman in the lake,” said Lt. Jason Revoldt, who was first on scene. “I got up to him and no response, went in there and pulled ashore got him and handed him to EMS groups.”
