OSHA and DOT Involved in Investigation of Fatal FL Explosion, Fire

According to a report from CBS Miami, an explosion and fire at Laurie’s Trailer Repair, a recently opened welding shop in Medley, Florida, on Tuesday is now under investigation by both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration as well as the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Investigators from both agencies were at the location where an explosion killed two and critically injured two others, who were then taken to Jackson Memorial hospital. A third victim was treated on scene and then released.

On Wednesday, utility workers were on site to fix power lines that had caught fire the day of the incident.

Video of the explosion was caught on a Ring camera less than one mile away. In addition to the fatalities and injuries, several vehicles were burned. Sources revealed the two fatal victims were clients and not employees.

The Miami-Dade County Police Department is spearheading the investigation, and have not provided any further details.
