Paper densities vary
I found the article on thermal imaging (Training Notebook, November 1996) interesting and informative. However, on page 22, the author states, “Lead is more dense than wood, whereas wood is more dense than paper.”
In general, this may not be true. Papers vary widely in density, from about 40 lbs./cubic foot to 67 lbs./cubic foot. Woods also vary widely in density, from only 22 lbs./cubic foot for cedar to 62 lbs./cubic foot, for teak. Please see Marks Mechanical Engineers` Handbook for additional details.
