Participants sought for fire and EMS volunteer survey
The Connecticut Safety Institute of the Community-Technical Colleges of Connecticut is conducting a survey to identify methods and programs used to recruit and retain volunteer firefighters and emergency medical responders. The objectives are to create a report and database containing guidelines and contacts for successful programs.
The Institute was created in 1997 to examine management and administrative issues facing Connecticut`s emergency services and develop academic programs and seminars to meet those needs.
A committee has been working to develop survey methodology. In addition to the Connecticut Safety Institute, the committee includes the town of Avon, the Avon Volunteer Fire Department, the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, the Council of Small Towns, the National Volunteer Fire Council, the Connecticut Firefighter`s Association, and the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control.
Survey participants are not restricted to the state of Connecticut.
