Pasadena (CA) Fire Department Criticized for Failing to Find Woman’s Body After Fire

A city report criticized Pasadena (CA) Fire Department firefighters for failing to find a woman’s body after a July fire.

Firefighters didn’t find the charred remains of the victim, Yolanda Marie Sapetto, during two separate searches and two separate calls to a July 32 fire at a detached converted garage on July 31. Her body was finally discovered on August 2 by an insurance investigator, according to a report from the Pasadena Star-News (http://bit.ly/se5sPx).

The report cited a lack of communication between commanders during the incident. It also took aim at the department’s failure to follow rules for a quick structure search to look for fire victims before or during the initial attack operation.
