Paterson (NJ) firefighters batled a multiple-alarm fire that destroyed two structures last week in the city.

According to NorthJersey.com, the fire last Wednesday in a vacant, boarded-up structure spread to an exposure building. Both the building where the fire originated and the one next door were total losses and would have to be demolished, said Fire Chief Brian McDermott. Nine people were displaced.

Firefighters operated from the alley next to the building to try to prevent the fire from extending to the Christ Temple Baptist Church next door. The church reportedly suffered some damage. No injuries were immediately reported.
