Pension Exemptions
Duty-disability pension benefits, and probably “heart and lung” pension benefits are excludable as earned income and need not be reported to the Internal Revenue Service, according to J. Eugene Baker, executive director of the Illinois Professional Firefighters Association. This is conforming with IRS Revenue Ruling 80-14.
