Philadelphia (PA) unions are repeating their call for mayor Michael Nutter to stop his legal challenge of the firefighters’ union’s arbitration award, reports CBS Philadelphia.
Firefighters’ union head Bill Gault says his members have been without a raise since 2009, and the union has won twice in arbitration and once more in court since then.
“This mayor is breaking the law,” Gault said today. “Binding is binding. We have to live with the results, so he has to live with the results.”
But Mark McDonald, the mayor’s spokesman, maintains the firefighters’ award is too expensive, and the city is exercising its legal right to appeal.
