Philadelphia Industrial Park Fire Under Control

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – A multialarm fire that swept through the Continental Business Center industrial park in suburban Philadelphia on May 15 was brought under control early the next day. It had burned for more than 13 hours. Smoke was visible for more than 20 miles. The fire started in an unsprinklered one-story brick structure that contained antifreeze and oil drums.

Three firefighters and 11 residents suffered minor injuries and smoke inhalation. Some 55 businesses, many of them containing hazardous chemicals, were destroyed. About 25 homes were evacuated.
