On the evening of Friday, March 26, 2021, the Hempstead (NY) Fire Department was called to a building fire at the Hempstead Ford-Lincoln dealership on North Franklin Street.

As units were on the way, heavy, black smoke could be seen from a distance.

Arriving companies were met with a heavy fire condition in a steel structure at the rear of the dealership as well as in an adjacent dumpster.

A working fire was transmitted followed by mutual aid calls to Rockville Centre, Lakeview, West Hempstead, South Hempstead, Uniondale, and Roosevelt.

All occupants safely evacuated the structure which appeared to be used for automotive repair.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Nassau County Fire Marshals.
