The Indianapolis (IN) Fire Department was kept busy early this morning with a sequence of fires that destroyed four homes within a four-block area.

Shortly after midnight, companies responded to 862 W. 29th with an exposure at 866 W. 29th. Both structures were heavily involved, but the fires were marked under control in 30 minutes. Three firefighters sustained slight injuries.

Later, at around 5 a.m., Indy firefighters responded to two homes fully involved. Neighbors said both were under renovation. Command ordered defensive ops only, and the fires were under control in one hour, with no injuries.
