Firefighters responded to a raging fire yesterday in the town of Hempstead on Long Island, New York. Residents of the apartment house were forced into the streets after a fire occurred on the sixth floor of their seven-story building at 380 Front Street on Tuesday afternoon, April 20, 2021.

Village fire units were called to the scene just before 2:30pm and found flames shooting from several sixth-floor windows.

Engine companies operated from the building’s standpipe system to knock down the flames. Mutual aid companies from several surrounding communities assisted at the scene.
