PIERCE MANUFACTURING, INC., the Wisconsin-based apparatus manufacturer, will fund the 21st Century Leadership Education Series of the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE CHIEFS (IAFC) VOLUNTEER AND COMBINATION OFFICERS SECTION (VCOS). For each apparatus sold to a volunteer and combination department, Pierce will donate $100 to the VCOS for activities, including regional leadership programs throughout the U.S.; a leadership course on “Designing the Purchasing Process, Not the Fire Truck,” jointly taught by Pierce vice-president of marketing/sales Lloyd DeWald, a volunteer chief, and a purchasing professional; seminar/educational program development; part-time IAFC staff position supporting VCOS communications; and volunteer firefighter representation on key National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Technical Committees.
