Pittsburgh (PA) Firefighter Brass Sue for Overtime Pay

A lawsuit filed Monday says Pittsburgh is refusing to pay fire officials the overtime they are owed, according to an Associated Press report (http://sacb.ee/MX0ZOl).

The suit was filed by a Pittsburgh Fire Bureau captain, battalion chief, and deputy chief. It claims the city won’t pay overtime when they work beyond their regular 53-hour weekly time cap.

The lawsuit alleges the captains and chiefs were made eligible for overtime under federal labor regulations in 2004. The firefighters claim the city has known since 2009 that captains and chiefs regularly work beyond their time cap.
