Police and Fire on Scene of Double Shooting and Fire in Kendall NY

A Kendall (NY) man is in police custody after shooting his wife, setting his home on fire and then shooting himself, reports the Star Gazette.

Sheriff Scott D. Hess said Dennis Buehler, 64, shot his wife, Linda Buehler, 58, in the shoulder after a confrontation in their home.

After they struggled, Linda ran out of the house, got in the family car and drove herself to a nearby home for help.

Dennis later set the house on fire, walked outside and then shot himself in the face.

Both Buehlers were taken for medical treatment. Dennis is in satisfactory condition.

During the incident the Orleans County Multi-Agency SWAT team was activated. The Kendall Fire Department also responded once the area was secured by law enforcement. They were assisted at the scene by other fire departments from Orleans and Monroe county fire departments.

The house is a total loss. Fire crews had a difficult time getting water to the residence.
