Update 8:15 p.m. WCVB (http://bit.ly/1mSWH7C) reports unidentified police officer was flown to a hospital in serious condition. The extent of the officer’s injuries have not been released.
SWAT teams were in the area of 46 Mill Pond Road as a fire began on the second floor of the home. Around 5:50 p.m., a massive explosion rocked the house and blew out a large part of the roof.
The fire was quickly spreading throughout the home.
Original Story: Shots were fired just before a fire and explosion raged through a home in southern New Hampshire Monday afternoon, reports The Associated Press.
Multiple agencies responded to a suburban duplex home on Mill Pond Road in Brentwood shortly after 4 p.m. Monday after the shooting was reported.
State police told numerous media outlets that the shooting involved a police officer.
Brentwood Selectman Ken Christiansen says a police officer was injured, but the officer’s identity is not known.
Debra Vasapolli, director of public relations at Exeter Hospital, confirmed that one person was taken to the hospital but said that person was not the victim of a gunshot wound. She declined to provide more details.
