In a new video, Providence (RI) Firefighter Jermaine Woods reflects on a rescue last year for which he became a finalist for the Liberty Mutual Firemark Award.
In November 2013, Woods was off-duty and attending his father’s birthday party in Pawtucket he heard a loud house explosion. Wearing only a sweat suit and flip flops, he immediately rushed over to assist. When he entered the home, he came upon a family in distress and led them outside to safety.
“This morning I used all of my training from the Providence Fire Department,” said Firefighter Woods in a city-issued report last year. “I work with a great group of guys and I also have to thank Lieutenant Robert J. Dunne, who passed away recently, for all he taught me through the years.”
