Firefighters worked overnight to ensure the extinguishment of a fire that destroyed a number of businesses in downtown Pueblo, Colorado.
KKTV reported (http://bit.ly/1l5oxyP) that fire department was first alerted around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday to smoke showing in a building on the 300 block of Court Street. Authorities believe the fire began in an office supply store and spread to an adjoining business. Firefighters were forced to abandon interior operations and fight the fire defensively because of excessive heat.
At least six businesses were destroyed by the fire. All of the businesses shared a common hallway, which allowed the fire to spread rapidly.
At one point, firefighters evacuated a parking garage across the street amid concerns the fire could spread.
