Ten Years Later, Deputy Chief Ray Downey Father’s Day Run/Walk Honors 9/11 Victims

FDNY Battalion Chief Joe Downey invites runners to the 10th Anniversary Run to honor the late Deputy Chief Ray Downey and all those that lost their lives on September 11.

Joe writes:

If you’ve been to our race before – you know what a great day it is. If you haven’t been to our race before – Join us this year. If you are not a runner, we have lots of “walkers”; strollers and wagons are welcomed. We max out at 2,000 applicants, so get your applications in by the deadline of June 11th, otherwise we can’t guarantee you a race number if you sign up the day of the race (We have maxed out the last 2 years.) Bring your sunscreen and your chairs. We have always had nice weather. We have tents set up for shade. Bagels, donuts, juice and coffee are served before the race. Hotdogs, hamburgers, water, gatorade and beer are served after the race. For the kids; we have face painting, a dunking tank and lots of bouncies. All kids that run the – free – Kid’s fun run get a medal as they cross the finish line. Everything mentioned above is all included in your entry fee – PLUS – you are entered into our raffle drawing. We have tons of raffle prizes. The first 2,000 registered will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag full of goodies. For those of you who have donated in the past, towards the raffle prizes, goodie bags or refreshments THANK YOU. We could not do it without your support.
