Redlands (CA) firefighters quickly extinguished a weekend fire that burned one home and threatened another. Tod Sudmeier provided some images from the fire scene.
According to a press release, Redlands Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Sunday.
Firefighters responded to the fire at a single-story residence in the 900 block of Calhoun Street at about 1 a.m. Sunday, April 17.
Once on scene, firefighters discovered a well involved residential structure fire threatening another nearby residence. Five engines, a ladder truck, a paramedic squad, and a chief officer all responded to the emergency. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes and were able to confine the fire to the building of origin.
The fire resulted in the closure of several streets in the affected area. The Red Cross responded to arrange shelter for two adult residents who were displaced by the fire. Southern California Edison crews responded to neutralize an electrical hazard caused by downed power lines.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature. No injuries were reported. The Redlands Fire Department wishes to remind residents of the importance of smoke alarms, and the part they play in providing early warning in residential fires.
