Providence (RI) Firefighter Brian Sutton pulled a small alligator from the Woonasquatucket River after a person came to his fire station claiming the reptile in the river. Unsubstantiated rumors about the animal’s residence in the Rhode Island river had abounded for weeks.
The capture took about 10 minutes. According to Deputy Assistant Chief Paul Thomas of the Providence Fire Department, the gator was under two feet long. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management took the alligator to a local reptile store, according to a report on boston.com.
