Role Reversal

By Diane Rothschild

This time of year The Yenta feels nostalgic for things past. Thanks to Eileen Brennan Cress, my honorary “sister” and Tom Brennan’s daughter, for sharing this photo of her parents dressed for Halloween.

(1) Tom and Janet Brennan in a little “role reversal.”

(2) I couldn’t pass up sharing this photo that Captain Bill Gustin, Miami-Dade (FL) Fire Rescue, sent me of his kinder, gentler self with a firehouse visitor–both wearing “the pink” to support breast cancer awareness. Here, Captain Bill Gustin discusses the finer points of stretching hoselines to a firehouse visitor.

Many thanks to Ron Jeffers of the New Jersey Metro Fire Photographers for the humorous photos and captions below.

(3) “Stop!  What are you making for dinner, ma’am?” (She was planning to walk in with her groceries, oblivious to the fire scene.)

(4) “I’ve heard of a chief being in the doghouse, but this is ridiculous!” (OR “Are the guys trying to tell me something?”)

(5) “Try sticking this ‘HESS  fire truck’ under your Christmas tree!”
