SC Firefighter Suffers Apparent Heart Attack at Fire

A Dillon County (SC) firefighter was rushed to the hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack.

The unidentified firefighter was fighting a fire at the Players Nightclub just after midnight.  Fire officials said the firefighter was on the line when he just “dropped,” according to a report from WMBF (http://bit.ly/vW1AGv).

Fire officials say this is the second time this building has burned in a week, and they believe the first fire was set intentionally. Officials believe Friday morning’s fire rekindled itself.

Yesterday a Mount Vernon (NY) firefighter died after suffering an apparent heart attack on the fireground. These incidents underscore the dangerous trends of deadly cardiac events in firefighters.
