A recent report from the Times-Tribune took a closer look at a close call Scranton (PA) firefighters experienced while operating last Wednesday at a warehouse fire.
Veteran firefighter Lt. Kelly Hopkins and three others ran dangerously low on air and became lost with zero visibility during the Wednesday night fire at the Sandone Tire warehouse. The report said that the hoseline the firefighters were following to safety had become entangled in tires, and Hopkins called a Mayday.
Scranton Fire Chauffeur James Rivers was among those who went to rescue the disoriented firefighters. “You know when he calls a Mayday it’s serious,” Rivers told the Times-Tribune. All four firefighters escaped from the building with Rivers’s help.
