SD Firefighters Respond to Overnight Rail Bridge Fire



According to a report from KELO, the Rapid City (SD) Fire Department (RCFD) to a fire that erupted on at a railroad bridge near Steele Avenue and East Omaha Street early Thursday morning.

On arrival, RCFD crews found the center support trestle of the bridge, located over Rapid Creek, engulfed at around 2:30 a.m.



Crews used a ladder truck to knock down the fire. RCFD officials said crews accessed the lower section of the bridge from the creek area below to extinguish it fully.

SCFD firefighters stayed on scene for around three hours. The cause of the incident is now under investigation.
