Seattle’s New Fireboats

Two 93-foot fireboats for the Seattle Fire Department will be designed by the marine architectural firm of Nickum & Spaulding Associates, Inc.

The $1.6-million vessels will have aluminum hulls with a 22-foot beam. Other features include three V-16 diesel engines, a pumping capacity of 7500 gpm at 150 psi and a maximum speed of 28 knots.

Four firms competed for the fireboat design contract valued at more than $105,000.
