Seventh Suspicious Fire in Past Month in Forest Hills (NY)

A suspicious second-alarm fire burned through a house under construction in Forest Hills, Queens, the seventh similar fire in the neighborhood in the past month, reports abc7ny.com.

Flames tore through the building at 67th Drive just before 11:30 p.m., but firefighters kept the fire from spreading to neighboring homes.

No firefighters were injured, even as the interior of the house under construction collapsed in the flames.

The fire was labeled suspicious, and could be the latest in a string of fires under investigation in the heighborhood, authorities say.

Six previous fires in the past four weeks were deemed suspicious, most in vacant buildings being renovated or under construction. The first was Oct 20th at the vacant site of a former hospital.

The fires have not been officially linked by fire marshals, and all are “still under investigation.”
