Fire investigators have new details destructive three-alarm fire in Bay Point that injured seven people and burned four homes, reports abc7news.com.
A 19-year-old Bay Point man woke up around 1:15 a.m. and found himself in the middle of a huge fire burning his home.
“I don’t know what woke me up, if it was a car explosion or the smoke, but when I woke up, I looked out the window and saw red stuff and said what the heck is happening?” said Rodrigo Gonzalez.
When Gonzalez opened the door, the smoke hit him hard. He couldn’t go through it, so he went to the window in the back of the house. It was blocked by an air conditioning unit and a plank of wood.
He managed to push it out, only to find he was still surrounded by fire and helped out by neighbors.
He was one of seven people treated for smoke inhalation. Four of them were taken to the hospital.
Gonzalez is okay. His mother says she is relieved.
