Sevier County Dispatch said the call the call originated from 944 Sharp Road near Jones Cove Road around 3 a.m. Monday, and it was a backyard brush fire that got out of control. The fire spread up Shell Mountain, reports wbir.com
“Shell Mountain has not had a fire in more than 30 years,” said Bob Craine, TEMA district coordinator. “So here is a lot of debris and build up of underbrush. The underbrush seems to be the biggest part of the fire.
Nathan Waters with the Tennessee State Forestry Department said the Sevier, Blount and Knox county forestry departments are on the scene.
