Six firefighters were left with minor injuries after fighting a five-alarm fire Thursday in a warehouse at the Charlton Woolen Mill.
The Boston Globe reported that (http://bo.st/QmFulp) the fire broke out around 9 p.m. Several explosions were heard, possibly caused by propane tanks in the building.
Firefighters from about 20 nearby towns fought the flames for more than two hours. Charlton’s lack of a municipal water supply necessitated a tanker shuttle operation to bring water from Glen Echo Lake.
Five businesses were displaced and the complex was completely destroyed.
