Smokestack at Reds Ballpark Catches Fire

One of the fireworks smokestacks at Great American Ball Park caught fire and spewed dark smoke for an inning on Friday night until firefighters extinguished it during a game between the San Francisco Giants and the Cincinnati Reds, reports The Associated Press.

The game continued uninterrupted. Fans in two sections by the smokestacks were evacuated while firefighters extended a ladder from outside the ballpark and sprayed the fire.

Two riverboat smokestacks shoot celebratory flames and fireworks during games. They inadvertently shot flames, then some fireworks, with the Giants at bat in the top of the sixth inning.

A flame continued to flicker from the top of one of the smokestacks, giving off a dark smoke that drifted across the outfield as the game continued.
