Some 170 volunteers attend leadership seminar at NFA

The “Volunteer Leadership in the 21st Century” course recently held at the National Fire Academy drew more than 170 attendees from 25 states. The event was sponsored by the National Volunteer Fire Council and the International Association of Fire Chiefs Volunteer Section.

The two-day seminar addressed the challenges the volunteer fire service will face as it moves into the next century, including retention and recruitment, marketing, leadership, management, and more. Seminar fees, which were waived, were covered through the U.S. Fire Administration and the NVFC`s 21st Century Fund.
