Son of Fallen New Jersey Firefighter Dies of Cancer

John Barnas–son of the late firefighter Gregory Barnas, who died in a fall at a fire scene in March–died Saturday due to complications from cancer.

The Record (http://bit.ly/1woDUqe) reported that the younger Barnas died of complications from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma Saturday afternoon, just months after he and his brother Kevin, both volunteers in the Wallington Fire Department, helped battle the fire that killed their father.

Greg Barnas had been donating blood cells for his son’s treatment and John Barnas, who was 23 at the time, underwent a treatment at Hackensack University Medical Center the afternoon after his father died.
