IN Apartment Fire Displaces 42 Families

A massive 3-alarm fire broke out at the Eagle Lake Landing apartment complex in Speedway, Indiana, at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening injuring one firefighter and one resident. Approximately 42 families were displaced by the fire which caused extensive damage, according to reports from WISH TV and the Indianapolis Star.

The families who were displaced by the fire received assistance from Red Cross units on scene. The fire is currently under investigation.

The Indianapolis Star reports that damages were estimated at $1.5 million and 18 apartments were destroyed by the fire. The total number of people forced to vacate all 42 occupied apartments has not yet been determined according to the report.
