With Memorial Day nearing, The Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association (SPFFA) has created a local television Public Service Announcement (PSA) saluting the service of veterans in Fairfield County and all across the U.S.
The :30 PSA shows members of the United States Military paying tribute to our nation’s fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. The PSA’s message is: “Remember the fallen. Thank you from all of us. A message from the Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association.” The video can be viewed on the SPFFA’s Facebook Page: http://on.fb.me/1cxNrpW, and a downloadable high resolution version can be seen at: https://goo.gl/U8YI8q.
SPFFA President Brendan Keatley said, “Stamford Fire Fighters are honored to salute and recognize the brave men and women who have risked their lives serving our nation’s military. Over the coming weeks, we encourage Connecticut residents to make an extraordinary effort to connect with a veteran and say ‘thank you’ with sincere gratitude.”
The firefighters are also asking that Connecticut residents turn out in force to the local community Memorial Day Parade & ceremonies to remember those who have given their lives in service for our nation and offer a salute to veterans gathered.
On Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 12PM, the City of Stamford will be holding its annual Memorial Day Parade, kicking off at the corner of Summer and Hoyt Streets. The parade will end with a ceremony at Veterans Park.
This year, the Stamford Fire Department Honor Guard, comprised of seven Stamford Fire Fighters, will participate by leading the march. Stamford Fire trucks will also take part in the parade along with over 40 veteran groups.
