Firefighters Rescue Resident from Staten Island (NY) Fire

FDNY firefighters rescued a resident from a house fire in the Westerleigh neighborhood of Staten Island, New York, early yesterday, according to a report from the Staten Island Advance (http://bit.ly/vUv4N7).

More than 60 firefighters responded to the one-story home fire at approximately 1:30 a.m. They received reports of a resident trapped.

Firefighter Christopher Pillarella of Ladder Co. 83 went ahead of the hoseline and searched through the smoke for the resident, who was found laying unconscious in a hallway with burns on his hand and face. Pillarella and another firefighter removed the victim, who is currently in stable condition at an area hospital.
