BRENTWOOD — A resident died in a two-alarm fire at their home Wednesday night, officials said.
Authorities have not released the person’s name yet or said if they are a man or woman.
The fire was reported just after 11 p.m. Wednesday at a two-story home in the 800 block of Nicholas Court.
Flames and smoke were coming out of the home when Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters got on scene.
More than 40 firefighters responded to the scene and had the fire under control at 11:49 p.m., fire district spokesperson Lauren Odo said.
The resident was found deceased inside the home after the fire was put out, officials said. They were the only occupant of the home, officials said.
No other injuries were reported.
The fire started in the garage of the home and spread inside, officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation. A damage figure has not been released.
