Suffolk (VA) Firefighter Burned Battling Boat Fire

A Suffolk firefighter suffered minor burns while battling a boat fire on Streeter Creek late Tuesday afternoon.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue was dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. to a dock behind a home on Burbage Acres Drive, where a 21-foot vessel and part of the dock had caught fire, 13 News Now reports.

The boat eventually drifted away from the dock, but firefighters extinguished the flames using a portable pump.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor burns but is expected to recover.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
