Suffolk (VA) Firefighters Battle Raging House Fire

Suffolk (VA) Fire & Rescue units responded to the scene of a residential structure fire, Thursday, June 30, 2022, in the 100 block of Castle Court. Emergency Communications was contacted at 1:42 p.m.

Battalion Chief Steven Johnson advised the first unit arrived on the scene at 1:45 p.m. Firefighters observed heavy fire from the rear and roof of the single-story residence. A defensive operation occurred to protect other nearby residential dwellings. The fire was marked under control at 3:26 p.m.

Two people were at home at the time of the fire and were able to get out safely. One occupant was evaluated and released by paramedics on-site. The occupants were displaced from the home and are working with the American Red Cross. No firefighters were injured.

Responding units included B1, B2, B3, E1, E3, E5, E6, E7, E9, FM7, L3, M10, M3, M6, R1, REHAB6, SF1.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but appears to be accidental in nature.
